Copyright and content complaints

Last updated: 8 September 2026

Woodnote hosts songs that our users choose to share. We respect copyright and we respond to valid notices. This page explains how to report content, who to send it to, and what happens next.

Reporting copyright infringement

To report content you believe infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent below. Under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3), your notice must include:

Please note: under 17 U.S.C. §512(f), you may be liable for damages — including costs and attorneys' fees — if you knowingly materially misrepresent that material is infringing.

What we do when we receive a notice

On receipt of a valid notice we remove or disable access to the material expeditiously. Because shared content on Woodnote expires automatically within 30 days, removal is usually immediate and permanent.

We will acknowledge that we received your notice and tell you what we decided.

Sending a counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the agent above. Under 17 U.S.C. §512(g)(3) it must include your signature, identification of the material and where it appeared before removal, your name, address and telephone number, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the US federal district court for your district — or, if you are outside the USA, the Eastern District of California.

Because shared content expires within 30 days, restoration may not be possible by the time a counter-notice takes effect.

Repeat infringers

Woodnote has no user accounts, so there is no account for us to terminate. We nevertheless will, in appropriate circumstances, remove content and refuse to serve or accept further uploads from a source we can identify from the technical information available to us at the time, such as the network address used to upload it. We do not keep identifying information about our users beyond what is described in our Privacy Policy.

Reporting other illegal content

To report anything else you believe is unlawful — including a recording of your voice made without your consent, or content that harasses or impersonates you — email report@engineeringovertones.com with the share link and a short description of the problem.

We will acknowledge that we received your report, tell you what we decided, and explain what you can do if you disagree. You do not need an account, and you do not need to be the person who created the content.
